Chimfunshi Wildlife Orphanage Logo Chimfunshi Wildlife Orphanage is one of the largest and oldest chimpanzee sanctuaries of the world, currently with 130 rescued chimps. Chimfunshi also works to protect the Zambian local wildlife, including rescue, rehabilitate and release. The newly built veterinary hospital enhances this work. The community work includes the Twampane Community School and a Community Health Clinic.

Chimfunshi Wildlife Orphanage has been provided 3 grants by the Elephant Charge totalling $19,516.

  • $6,280 - Fuchs Elephant Charge 2023 - Educator officer wage, school club, activities, nature camps for 8 weeks, collaborative workshop for community, trip for conservation club and designed new displays
  • $8,387 - Fuchs Elephant Charge 2022 - Conservation Education Programme implementation – Education Officer wages, Nature Camp of overnights, creation of forest trail
  • $4,848 - Fuchs Elephant Charge 2021 - To support the veterinary department by the purchase of a new microscope with teaching capabilities. Support the outreach program for 3 months.
